Juveniles

The municipal court has jurisdiction over juveniles under the age of 17, in the city of Seminole, who are charged with a Class C misdemeanor offense. State law requires juveniles to appear, in person, before the judge to hear an explanation of the charges and of the options available to them, and to enter a plea. State law also requires that the juvenile appears with his/her parent or legal guardian. Both the juvenile and parent/legal guardian must be present at all court proceedings. The court is prohibited from accepting payment of a fine from a juvenile defendant prior to his/her appearance before the judge.

Rules

You are expected to dress appropriately and act in a respectful manner when in court.

  • Arrive on time
  • All cell phones, and electronic devices should be switched to silent mode
  • Be respectful to the judge and court staff
  • No tobacco of any kind
  • No profane language
  • No food or drink
  • No weapons are allowed except by law enforcement personnel

Dress Code

Proper decorum must be maintained in the court at all times. The following are not allowed:

  • Food or drink
  • Chewing gum
  • Shorts
  • Tank tops or halter-tops.

ALL PERSONS present in the Courtroom shall be clean, neat and dressed in a manner that shows dignity and respect for the Court.
