Driving Safety Course (DSC)
To be eligible for a DSC dismissal a defendant must:
- Must be at least 16 years old
- Can not have taken a DSC in the preceding 12 months
- Enter a plea of guilty or nolo contendere
- Request DSC on or before the appearance date on citation
- Possess a valid Texas driver’s license or permit
- Present proof of liability insurance
The following offenses are ineligible for DSC:
- Offenses committed in a construction zone when workers are present
- Traffic offenses committed by a person with a CDL
- Passing a school bus
- Leaving the scene of an accident
- Speeding 25 mph or more over the limit
