Driving Safety Course (DSC)

To be eligible for a DSC dismissal a defendant must:

• Must be at least 16 years old
• Can not have taken a DSC in the preceding 12 months
• Enter a plea of guilty or nolo contendere
• Request DSC on or before the appearance date on citation
• Possess a valid Texas driver’s license or permit
• Present proof of liability insurance

The following offenses are ineligible for DSC:

• Offenses committed in a construction zone when workers are present
• Traffic offenses committed by a person with a CDL
• Passing a school bus
• Leaving the scene of an accident
• Speeding 25 mph or more over the limit
